The Catalyst

The Catalyst:

You came into my life with a bang,
and set my heart on fire.
The world I once thought I knew
exploded in your presence.

Kisses that are evergreen
hands that fit just right.
We slot together as effortlessly
as pieces in a puzzle.

A look in your eye, was all it took
to detonate my perception.
The fragments of what used to be
devastated beyond repair.

Upside down, inside out
Frightening and chaotic
When life is better than any dream
I never want to sleep.

Dedicated to my one true love: Dirty Dunners

I miss the antique buildings, and the clean and crisp, cool air.
I miss the painted faces, and the costumes that we wear.
I miss seeing students stagger, down the streets in early morn.
I miss watching people line, for the library after dawn.

I miss the lecture theaters, with their hard, uncomfy seats.
I miss walking to my classes, slippery ice under my feet.
I miss putting off assignments for weeks and weeks and weeks,
Then feeling all the pressure when my workload gets too steep.

I miss the flat dramas, arguments and the fun,
They started out all strangers, but was where I found my one,
I miss the girl who blows her nose, so loud the whole flat hears.
Fights over dishes, would sometimes lead to tears.

I miss working Sunday morning, dreaming of my bed.
The antics of last night, left a throbbing in my head.
I miss waking up and seeing snow, it bought me so much bliss
Until I had to go outside, face and fingers frozen stiff.

My first year has ended, but I'll be back again
I count down the days until my summer ends.
I never thought I'd find a place  that feels so much like home.
But Dunedin is a part of me, set in my heart like stone.

A new story.

Set my heart on fire
take me any place
I’d rather be a liar
than not have you stay

Your eyes tell a tale
that no one else can see
I’d like to read it one day
if you’d share with me.

I could spend my time in this world
with him till the end
we would be happy
we could be content

but I know that story
I’ve read every single page
nothing ever changes
that’s what makes it safe

you…you’re unpredictable
every day is new
the chapters of your life
remain unwritten, it’s too soon.

To leave would be a gamble
to stay would be so dull
I want to write my story
with pages full of fun.

Seven battery farm Chickens

Seven hungry chickens
crammed into one cage
the only thing they’ll do in life
is lay and lay and lay.

Seven angry chickens
no longer have their beaks
the closeness drives them mad
they’d peak to death the weak

Seven jam-packed chickens
can never spread their wings
or step on grass, or see the sun
the wires chafe their skin

Six sickly chickens
meant to live till ten
they’ll be exhausted after two
then to death with them

more chickens crammed together
more profit for the man
He doesn’t have to pay
the pesky price for land

Eat your eggs for breakfast
if they are what you like
Just be careful where you get them
and from whom you buy.
